WHAT YOU'LL DO
As the Technical Accounting Manager, you will leverage your experience researching relevant accounting guidance to identify key accounting issues and recommend accounting solutions and disclosure requirements for complex and non-routine transactions. The Technical Accounting Manager will be responsible for providing technical accounting support on complex business transactions including hedging, revenue recognition and business combinations, in addition to drafting and maintaining accounting position memos. You will need to ensure that our accounting policies and estimates are updated timely to reflect any relevant accounting changes. This position will report to our Principal Accounting Officer. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying US GAAP technical accounting pronouncements.
Duties: & Responsibilities:
- Perform and lead accounting review for complex accounting areas such as purchase accounting, derivatives, revenue recognition and impairment analysis and ensure Busey's financial reports and disclosures are in compliance with updated reporting requirements.
- Preparation of Footnote Support for SEC Reporting.
- Interact regularly with others in the Finance group.
- Assist with SOX documentation for financial reporting.
- Assist with Model Risk Management documentation for models within the Finance group.
- Demonstrate ability to understand and produce complex accounting and financial analysis.
- Demonstrate ability to master accounting and finance systems.
- Provide internal training regarding new/updated accounting guidance and other complex areas of accounting.
- Support management as the project lead on special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests requiring technical accounting guidance and leadership.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Requires Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
- 3+ years of professional experience within public accounting; banking experience preferred
- CPA Required
