Indiana Trust is seeking an established professional with experience in personal trust, specifically with ultra-high net worth individuals/families, to join its team. The VP Wealth Advisor is responsible for the management, retention, and growth of assigned relationships and for operating within policies and procedures governing the highly-regulated financial services sector. The VP Wealth Advisor will seek to become a trusted advisor to all of his/her clients by providing expert advice and counsel in all areas related to wealth management. The VP Wealth Advisor is also responsible for the acquisition of new relationships. The VP operates as an integral part of the Family Wealth team and provides and mentoring to colleagues as needed or requested.
Along with the Investment Advisor/Portfolio Manager, serve as clients’ relationship manager and trusted advisor, developing a personal relationship with clients and their families and understanding and anticipating wealth-planning needs. The VP Wealth Advisor will coordinate Company’s activities with clients’ internal and external advisors (e.g. tax and legal) to meet those needs and will remain responsive to changes in the business/regulatory environment, and client’s personal situations, which may affect clients’ needs. The VP Wealth Advisor will be expected to think strategically and take initiative, setting the agenda for client meetings/relationships and ensuring clients consistently receive exemplary, proactive service.
Oversee and monitor all account activity, including receipts and disbursements (using daily transaction reports), and the process of transferring funds, securities, and other assets to or from Indiana Trust.
Act in a fiduciary capacity to perform activities relative to the administration of accounts under the terms of the governing documents and applicable law.
Strong work ethic and the ability to research issues and follow through to resolution is required.
Communication and Maintenance of Records
Ensure that appropriate account documentation is maintained in compliance with applicable regulations and Company policy.
Facilitate effective reporting and communication to client and other interested parties.
Industry Knowledge & Continuing Education
Maintain a base of knowledge in key area(s) of wealth management including trust and estate planning, investment management, and tax planning. Maintain an awareness of industry changes and trends. Identify and educate clients (and colleagues, as applicable) on relevant topics and changes.
Educate clients and trust beneficiaries on the terms and requirements of governing documents.
Regarding areas of expertise, develop and/or assist with development of content for seminars and cross-training throughout the organization.
New Business Development and Client Retention
Generate new opportunities across lines of business through direct contact with existing clients, prospects and referral sources; contribute to Company meeting its annually-established new business and business retention goals. Make presentations to individuals and organizations explaining the services of Indiana Trust.
Provide leadership and actively participate in team meetings and sales and marketing-focused events.
Identify and develop/maintain relationships with key centers of influence.
Work as team, with internal and external advisors, to develop and implement ongoing strategies to achieve clients’ near-term goals and ultimate legacy plan objectives.
Bring expertise to bear in assisting other Wealth Advisors and Administrators with complex or novel situations.
Serve on, and actively contribute to, company committees as assigned; chair committee(s) if requested.
Occasional travel, including inter-office (to Indiana Trust’s two other offices in Elkhart and Mishawaka) will be required.
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 10 years of experience in any of the following: estate planning, trust administration, wealth management. Holding an advanced degree (JD, MBA, etc.) is preferred.
Holding or working toward one of the following certifications/designations is preferred: Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
Sales experience in a service-related field.
