The Core Systems Developer/Analyst is responsible for coding, administering, and providing support for Suncoast Credit Union’s core operating systems. This individual conducts programming, code review, deployments, quality assurance testing, database maintenance, data replication, data backups, and troubleshooting for client-side applications, services, and systems. An ideal candidate is an analytical critical thinker who is agile and flexible with financial institution experience. This role reports to the Systems & Development Manager.
Remote Opportunity
Install, configure, and maintain the credit union’s core financial processing system and mortgage servicing system
Test and implement upgrades for the core applications
Assist with upgrades to the operating system running the core application
Troubleshoot and solve hardware, software, and network-related issues including system crashes
Serve as the point of contact for system issues occurring during processing, including those reported by users
Document problems and recommend solutions to implement corrective measures
Evaluate existing systems or processes to identify inefficiencies and develop strategies for enhancements
Monitor disk space capacity, suggest, develop, and implement data purges to manage the capacity
Update and copy the production database to the test database on a periodic basis
Preserve and transfer the production database to the test database on an ongoing basis
Design, build, test, and maintain job programs, plans, and schedules for the core financial processing system using software programming language
Utilize testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure accuracy, reliability, and improved system efficiency
Modify existing programs to enhance the system’s capabilities
Maintain and modify core applications using HTML, Power ON, and another programming language to meet system changes and credit union specifications
Troubleshoot existing code to minimize user downtime and maximize service
Develop software programs utilizing core programming language to accommodate requests by business units such as automated workflows, postings, reports, and on-demand business processes
Develop codes and maintain system form letters including Symform PDF images using the core application Symform pdf
Develop software documentation to clearly articulate the purpose and provide instructions on how to use the program
Analyze, collect data, program, test, and implement project requests
Assist with gathering the project requirements, attend meetings and gather pertinent information or direction to ensure the successful completion of the project
Mentor and instruct other members of the Core Services Team regarding the architecture and development of host processes
Establish internal controls necessary to safeguard information stored within the computer system
Adhere to department policies such as project requests, deployment procedures, conducting code reviews, and weekly project updates to management
Provide operational and on-call support as required in a 24/7 environment
Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting the area of expertise
Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
2+ years of experience with software maintenance
2+ years of experience with programming databases including data modeling, stored procedures, functions, and query optimizations
Experience with Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), service-oriented architectures, SQL, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
General knowledge and understanding of object-oriented programming and principles
General knowledge and understanding of relational and hierarchical database concepts
Experience with a financial institution preferred
Experience with Core Episys application and programming language is a preferred
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field preferred
Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
Ability to analyze and resolve difficult or complex problems
Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
Ability to influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures
