We are seeking a Full Stack Observability Engineer with a focus on Splunk administration to join Zions Bancorporation.The Full Stack Observability Engineer plays a key role in operational data aggregation and analysis activities for the Bancorp. This role will liaison with information security teams, infrastructure teams, banking system owners, and other technology stakeholders to provide best in class operational data aggregation and analysis capabilities. The Full Stack Observability Engineer will have the opportunity to learn additional platforms used in the observability space, thereby increasing their knowledge and capability with industry leading observability solutions.
The Full Stack Observability Engineer will:
Administer a large cloud and on-premises hybrid Splunk solution consisting of heavy forwarders, indexers, and search head servers on Linux, AIX, Solaris and Windows endpoints including on-premise and cloud-based applications spanning security, performance, and operational roles.
Onboard data to Splunk via forwarder, HEC, scripted inputs, TCP / UDP, and modular inputs from a variety of sources.
Evaluate, install, configure, and maintain Splunk apps and add-ons.
Interact with key stakeholder and end users to identify data requirements and perform troubleshooting.
Develop and maintain process documentation including outlining step-by-step procedures, guidelines, and best practices.
Learn and operationally support other monitoring tools and platforms owned by the Full Stack Monitoring team.
Work in a 24 x 7 operations environment through rotating on-call shifts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, and 6+ years of relevant work experience.A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
Experience with Splunk Cloud, Splunk Enterprise, Splunk DB Connect, data onboarding, implementing, and supporting Splunk Server Infrastructure across Windows, UNIX, and Linux environments.
Ideal candidates will possess Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin or Splunk Cloud Certified Admin.
Proficient in Splunk Search Processing Language.
Experience with SC4S (Splunk Connect for Syslog), shell scripting and network protocols is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Data modeling and knowledge management is a plus.

This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office at the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
