CNB is looking for a qualified, motivated, and client- and team-focused individual to join our team as Chief Credit Officer.
JOB SUMMARY
The Chief Credit Officer is responsible for providing support, direction, credit information, and loan policies and procedures to ensure the overall quality of the Bank’s lending portfolio. Also responsible for participating and overseeing several committees involved in the management of the Bank.
DUTIES
Supervises Credit Analysts, Portfolio Managers and Loan Processors, which includes:
Providing supervision and support to department staff;
Monitoring department staff members’ daily tasks, operations and quality control to ensure an organized work area and necessary resources (staff, materials, etc.) are available for maximum results.
Monitoring time worked and scheduling time off;
Reviewing employee performance and recommending salary increases;
Providing recommendation of employee discharges, hires, and discipline;
Promoting growth and development of staff members through training, excellent communication and delegation of duties to ensure cross-training throughout department; and
Conducting regular staff meetings.
Reinforces the stellar client service experience through their own example; along with appropriate follow-through with involved clients and staff members, and periodic training with staff members.
Responds to or refers inquiries to the appropriate department or staff member; exhibits the knowledge of making recommendations on loan structure, terms and pricing so as not to expose the Bank to undue credit risk.
Prepares and distributes credit information covering loan quality trends, growth trends and loan product.
Reviews large and complex loans prior to submission to Loan Committee.
Works closely with other’s in reviewing such topics as local real estate data and assessing the impact on the Bank’s loan portfolio.
Prepares, reviews and modifies lending policies and procedures (when necessary) to enable the Bank to perform in a business manner, but not expose it to undue risk.
Ensures that individual loans are Risk Rated correctly when reviewing loans for loan committee submission.
Consistently applies superior decision-making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals and requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures, keeping within assigned approval limits and using these instances as learning tools for staff development.
Assumes responsibility for special projects; gathers data and prepares reports for the Board of Directors and other members of Senior Management, audits and other staff.
Works with the Bank’s nCino Administrator to coordinate implementation of this software and make recommendations to Senior Management.
Develops and maintains knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors and competition.
Reviews current account status, to include but not limited to, Past Due accounts and Notes Matured; and makes recommendations for these accounts.
Oversees maintenance of commercial loan files to ensure all required collateral, financial monitoring or service requirements comply with loan approvals.
Assists in preparing materials for Regulatory Exams and Audits.
Assists in coordinating, preparing and reviewing internal or third-party loan documents, as required.
Maintains and protects confidentiality of client information.
Maintains regular, on-time attendance.
Remains current in assigned training and continuing education for designation retention (online, video, in-house emails, telephone seminars, etc.)
Complies with all regulatory requirements including Bank Secrecy Act and all others specific to their position.
Performs other various duties as assigned.
SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Business is preferred; otherwise, must have a combination of applicable education and experience.
Ten+ years’ experience as a supervisor/manager in a bank or other financial institution.
Passion for providing a stellar client service experience to all clients (external and internal) and ability to instill this passion in others.
Ability to provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned staff while carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
Excellent interpersonal skills (tactfulness, cooperation, courteousness and client friendliness) are necessary to represent the bank in a positive manner.
Positive and cooperative approach when working with others.
Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely and effectively, with attention to detail for visually appealing output and accurately proofreading publications.
Excellent verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively present information to clients and management.
Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Ability to think strategically and exercise independent judgment.
Knowledge of cash flow, credit and collateral analysis.
Excellent accounting/math skills with ability to work precisely with financial calculations.
Ability to efficiently and accurately keyboard information, both computer and calculator.
Strong computer skills with a proficiency in MS Word and Excel, previous experience with FISERV related systems a plus.
Ability to work efficiently and accurately while paying attention to details.
