Summer Internship - MPF IT

We are currently seeking a summer intern to work in our Business Resiliency Management department. Successful individuals should be following an academic track in Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Risk Management, Business, or Information Technology.
Who are we you ask? We are a federally chartered corporation and one of 11 Federal Home Loan Banks (FHLBanks) that, with the Office of Finance, comprise the Federal Home Loan Bank System. The FHLBanks were chartered by Congress under the Federal Home Loan Bank Act of 1932 to improve the availability of funds to support home ownership. Each FHLBank is cooperatively owned by member financial institutions in its district and operated as a separate entity with its own management, employees, and board of directors. Our district consists of the states of Illinois and Wisconsin. We are regulated by the Federal Housing Finance Agency, an independent federal agency.
The MPF IT Summer Internship will involve the following:
In this role, assist supporting the software development lifecycle process in support of the secondary market mortgage program, the Mortgage Partnership Finance (MPF) Program. You'll be responsible for being a part of agile teams that support the program through some testing and development work associated with various project work.
- Work with team of developers and testers for MPF Program, suggest and develop test cases to enhance the testing process
- Attend regular project meetings to provide development/testing feedback and updates
- Work with the QA team in writing detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test cases in Test Plan, Azure DevOps' test case repository tool
- Execute tests for existing application feature or new feature going in the release, provide feedback on features and record all bugs/issues encountered during testing
- Design, write, and execute end-to-end automation tests and assist with triaging of failed automation runs
- Review and analyze user stories; design, code and debug user story implementation; fix defects in implemented user stories
- Build and maintain reports to track processes, KPIs, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Two to five years' experience in computer science or applicable field
- One to three years' experience exposure to technology initiatives
- Exposure to technology initiatives and programs is desired
- Familiarity with Agile and QA methodologies, automation testing, API testing, and QA tools
- Ability to learn new skills quickly and use the skills efficiently.
- Knowledge of SQL, C#, ASP.Net, and Java; working knowledge of Selenium and Cucumber a plus
- Excellent time-management skill with the ability to meet goals and deadlines on-time
- Strong Excel skills, ability to analyze data, create charts/graphs
- Strong PowerPoint a plus
- Strong analytical skills, can analyze data and create presentations from it
- Resourceful, can research solutions independently before going to management
- Ability to work with executives down to front line staff - both internally and externally
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Cultivates strong relationships, can work across teams and departments
- Self-starter who also works well on a team
- Independent problem solver
How you'll make an impact:
- Deliver project results that impact the quality of our MPF products and services. Project assignments will include identifying and detailing scenarios, designing and writing test cases, developing test automation scripts, executing tests, documenting defects, and participating in project team meetings to provide the status of testing.
- Apply your knowledge to solve real industry Quality Assurance challenges in a setting that foster cooperation and ownership.
- Share ideas that will help our MPF QA Team think outside the box.
- Identify key areas of opportunities that can enhance the MPF QA operational process, determine applicable Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and define the KPI measurement process.
- Develop software using C# ASP.net, and SQL
- Maintain code quality through unit testing using C#
- Collaborate using GIT track source code changes
- Updating automation code to follow enterprise standards
