Job Description:
At Regions, the Database Security Engineer is responsible for leading the first line of defense Information Security services around database security and related matters. This role reviews, designs, and develops security operational processes, standards, and procedures utilizing current and new technologies. The Database Security Engineer will also be responsible for coordinating with internal teams to implement database monitoring solutions and improving the security aligned with corporate business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
Monitors and anticipates trends and investigates organizational objectives and needs
Creates and maintains operational documentation and reports to support monthly trend analysis as well as project components
Assists with the research, evaluation, proof-of-concept, selection and implementation of technology solutions
Provides detailed analysis of pros and cons and build vs buy options
Explores solutions and methods to improve business processes, efficiency, effectiveness and value delivered to customers
Creates quality reviews of current solutions
Participates in security incident response activities and post-event reviews of security incidents
Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of database monitoring solutions to business areas, project teams and vendors to apply and execute appropriate use of technology solutions and
Participates in efforts to examine technology vision, opportunities and challenges regarding security standards and the impact of the technology
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Information Technology, Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Engineering or related field(s)
Two (2) years of operational experience
Preferences
Base Technology or Security certification (CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CCENT, CCNA, MCSA, etc)
Experience working with database tools to monitor, secure, and improve data systems
Knowledge of Database Security best practices and security solutions
Experience working with various operating systems and database systems (Oracle and MS SQL)
Experience in a cloud-based environment is preferred (Azure, AWS, GCP)
Skills and Competencies
Application protocols such as MS-SQL, LDAP, and SSO
Applied use of cryptography
Knowledge of data protection controls
Excellent organizational skills
General knowledge of web technologies, cloud technologies, enterprise and network architecture
Knowledge of common web technologies, enterprise and network architecture
Knowledge of or demonstrated experience with defense in depth, trust levels, privileges and permissions
Strong ability to adapt and apply information to new scenarios and technologies
Strong ability to prioritize conflicting demands
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong interpersonal skills
Understanding of financial industry regulations such as GLBA, PCI, and SOX
Understanding of modern security tools and controls
Understanding of programming languages or other scripting languages
Understanding of secure development life cycle methodologies
Qualifications:
Self-motivated individual with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
BS Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Minimum 2+ years' experience in a data analyst or engineer role working with data discovery and classification products (Securiti, BigID, Imperva Sonar).
Detailed understanding of data classification concepts including data integrity, data privacy, and data security.
Knowledge of database management systems.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence internal stakeholders.
Experience with governing and securing data for both on-prem and cloud ecosystems.
Responsibilities:
Ongoing design, testing, documentation, and support of implemented data security technologies.
Cross-team collaboration to support and align with data governance, data privacy and data protection programs.
Assist with adherence to information handling and data classification standards and guidelines across the bank.
Meet project deadlines by providing accurate estimates for committed deliverables.

Compensation Details
Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.
