BASIC FUNCTION: Learn the basics of banking while training in Bank Operations (Loan Operations and Deposit Operations); and completing the two-year Banking/Finance Apprenticeship program at Harper College. ESSENTIAL DUTIES HARPER COLLEGE - Maintain academic and attendance requirements (Minimum 2.0 GPA)
- Participate in academic progress reviews scheduled with mentors, faculty, and RA coaches
- Must use Paid Time Off (PTO) for missed classes, such as sickness or vacation
- Attend scheduled classes as required
This position will support Bank Operations and rotate between Loan Operations and Deposit Operations during the two-year apprenticeship program. Loan Operations - Perform basic loan servicing functions for a variety of loan types (Commercial Real Estate; Commercial and Industrial; Consumer)
- Apply payments and advances to loans
- Act as servicing agent for participated/syndicated loan transactions
- Perform servicing for troubled loans, i.e. non-accruals, OREO and charge-offs
- Pay invoices
- Pay assessment fees for Residential Condominium Loans
- Pay real estate taxes
- Process paid loans
- Prepare payoff letters
- Prepare release deed if necessary and send for recording
2. Review new and renewed loans -
- Review new and/or renewed loans on the Fiserv system against boarding data
- Responsible for maintaining original loan documents and files in the collateral vault
3. Answer client inquiries regarding loan balance, transactions & payoffs - Transfer money between accounts
- Prepare wire transfer requests
- Research and correct errors
4. Audit data entry of new and renewed loans - Perform maintenance as needed
- Scan key loan documents
5. Audit all previous day’s servicing activity - Correct errors as found
- Perform reconciliation process for GL accounts
6. Monitor hazard and flood insurance - Contact agents/borrowers to obtain current certificate of insurance
- Update weekly insurance tickler report
- Add lapsed insurance coverage to force placed insurance program
7. Perform additional departmental duties such as: - Order credit reports, title work and/or flood searches
- Assist with Board reports
- Update Procedures
- Input CRA/HMDA information into the FFIEC CRA/HMDA data entry software
- Assist in the processing of construction draws
- Update collateral & insurance report
- Prepare Subordinations of lien
- Provide notary services
- Monthly insurance monitoring
- Monthly available commitment report monitoring
- Collateral maintenance for tax certificates secured loans
- Review daily reports
- Update loans secured by stock/bonds/investment accounts report
- Input Customer Due Diligence and Beneficial Ownership information into BAM+
Deposit Operations Exception Processing - Responsible for monitoring, researching, and processing a variety of exception items on a daily basis such as, but not limited to:

- Non-post
- Stop payment
- Overdraft
- Positive Pay
- Incoming and outgoing return items, including check, ACH, & card services
- Reclamation and death notice entry
- Prenotification and notification of change

Wire Transfer Processing - Perform daily wire transfer functions such as, but not limited to:
- Monitoring wire transfer email
- Other duties assigned to the wire department
Client Services - Properly identifies Clients adhering to guidelines noting in the Client Identification Policy
- Maintains outstanding internal and external Client service relations through courteous and responsive support
- Assist other departments, as needed, by providing counsel and information as it relates to the Deposit Operations’ policies and functions
- Direct internal and external Clients to the appropriate personnel to resolve more complex questions or problems
- Provide requested research and documentation for internal and external Client requests
Process routine daily functions such as: - Complete daily Internal Client requests received via e-mail in a timely manner such as, but not limited to: change of address, account transfers, stop payments, account research, sweep transfers, ACH transfers, transaction & client corrections, etc.
- Monitor dormant accounts and assist with filing annual escheatment in accordance with the State of Illinois
- Prepare reconciliations for assigned general ledgers and other internal accounts such as, but not limited to: ATM control and settlement, official checks, ACH settlement, ICS and CDARS, federal withholding, in process, etc.
- Issue and balance check files
- Review and approve mobile & merchant deposit review exceptions
- Legal requests such as: levies, garnishments, subpoena for records, etc.
- Chex Systems maintenance and reporting
- Fraudulent claim processing
