Skowhegan Savings Bank is seeking an individual to join our team as Commercial Lender, Somerset County, Maine.

Reporting to the SVP, Senior Commercial Lender, the candidate will oversee an existing commercial loan portfolio with a solid understanding of potential growth or risk within the portfolio. The Vice President, Commercial Lender, will be responsible for building, maintaining and growing commercial banking relationships by generating loans and making referrals to other banking services, developing commercial loan prospects from current customers, referral leads, and other sources to include Commercial & Industrial, Commercial Real Estate, and Construction Financing. The candidate will also be responsible for collecting and analyzing financial and other related data in order to determine the credit worthiness of the borrower, as well as prepare proposals, establish and negotiate terms under which credit will be granted in compliance with loan underwriting guidelines, originate, process, approve within lending authority, and close commercial loan products.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with knowledge of commercial lending; experience within the forestry and heavy equipment industry a plus. The candidate must also have knowledge of bank products and services and demonstrated proficiency with analyzing financial statements, strong sales, negotiation and networking skills. Must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, be detail oriented, and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. AS/BS degree or equivalent work experience and 3+ years of experience in Commercial Banking; a combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.

Education and Experience:
Commercial Loan Officer I:
Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience and
3 -5 years of related experience and/or training in Commercial Banking.
Commercial Loan Officer II:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience and
7 – 10 plus years of related experience and/or training in Commercial Banking.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of commercial lending.
Strong knowledge of bank products and services.
Demonstrated proficiency with analyzing financial statements.
Strong sales, negotiation and networking skills.
Strong and effective communication skills, both oral and written.
