We are seeking an experienced API and Integration Enterprise Architect that will focus on the Application, APIs and Integrations domains. As an Architect you will embrace Zions digital banking vision and contribute your leadership to achieve that vision. This person will be a catalyst for change, an advocate for the enterprise, and have a direct impact on Zions Bancorporation.
The Enterprise Architecture and Strategy organization is at the heart of innovation at Zions Bancorporation. We continually modernize on many of Zions' key banking applications/system and its banking core. In addition to application development, we manage the key platforms, services, and processes which enable modernizing engineering and IT operations and delivery through DEVSECOPS and Agile/Lean principles. The API/Integration Enterprise Architect Responsibilities and Accountabilities will include:
- Developing and maturing Application and API/Integration domain strategies and principles.
- Owning and maturing microservices reference architectures, patterns, standards and influencing their adoption including guiding implementation across the enterprise to ensure secure and reliable integration.
- Strategizing the adoption of frameworks like BIAN, FDX and CDL modeling for open banking advantages enabling regulatory demands including partnering with external partners, vendors, and third-party APIs to establish integration capabilities and streamline data flows as appropriate.
- Partnering with technology and business stakeholders to understand the overall Microservices/API architecture and its integration requirements with various internal and external customers/stakeholders; and ensuring seamless coordination between the microservices architecture and API integration strategies.
- Influencing for API-First integration design mindset and solutions that align with industry best practices, enabling seamless communication between microservices, external APIs, and legacy systems.
- Guiding engineering teams on performance testing, monitoring, and optimization of APIs to ensure high availability, scalability, and responsiveness.
- Staying up to date with the latest API integration trends, emerging technologies, and industry standards, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to development teams regarding API integration best practices, tools, and techniques.
- Owning, maturing and guiding the value chain and tooling around CI/CD pipeline from Applications Integration, DEVSECOPS and API perspectives
- Participating in business and technology strategic planning processes and guiding business capability and technical capability initiative roadmaps.
- Owning and participating consistently in maturing the Enterprise Architecture practice in integration and application domains.
Qualifications:
- Experience in enterprise application integration (EAI), and API Management in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- Experience in API mediation technologies including Enterprise Gateways, Light Gateways, and Service Mesh.
- Experience in API Authentication and authorization mechanisms and Centralized entitlement infrastructures - OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWT, ForgeRock
- Knowledge of modern microservices-based application architectures - MACH (Microservices, API First, Cloud-Native and Headless Architectures) including application and data integration approaches such as RESTful APIs, Kafka streaming, etc.
- 8 plus years of experience in enterprise architecture and IT leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering preferably in Computer Science, MIS or related field.
- Proven track record of influencing change and leading strategic enterprise IT initiatives to achieve well-defined business objectives.
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication. Ability to communicate effectively with business leaders and technical experts at all organizational levels.
- Ability to cultivate a shared strategic vision, articulate clear business objectives, and align the organization to achieve them.
- Banking or other Financial Services experience is a plus.
A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
Location: This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office at the Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
