We are looking for a seasoned Middle Office Loan AdministratorinSan Diego, CA. This role focuses on managing the loan documentation and closing process for commercial, business or commercial real estate loans. 

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Manages the documentation review and loan closing process for commercial, business or commercial real estate loans.  

  • Works directly with relationship managers (RM), along with the borrower, legal counsel, title companies, insurance agents, and vendors to ensure closing requirements are met and necessary due diligence is obtained.  

  • Represents the organization with clients and outside agencies.  

  • Reviews and comprehends complex loan documentation, loan terms and financial elements for accuracy and consistency with the Credit Approval.  

  • Ensures documents are prepared in compliance with credit policy, documentation standards and regulatory requirements.  

  • Identifies potential risks and provides solutions.  

  • Responsible for ensuring waivers or deviations from policy are adequately documented.  

  • Instructs attorney to prepare loan documents in accordance with credit approval and bank's requirements.  

  • Interacts with clients, collecting, reviewing and distributing due diligence items necessary for a loan closing.  

  • Actively negotiates and coordinates loan documents with Legal counsel.  

  • Notifies the RM, attorney and client of items missing items or required corrections and ensures attorney closing checklist is accurate. 

  • Assists RM with clarification of legal, policy and documentation issues requiring adjustments.  

  • Confirms budget, escrow closing statement and bank settlement statements are in balance, ensuring fees and expenses are accounted for and outstanding items are identified.  

  • Ensures appropriate approval and/or waivers and exceptions are obtained.  

  • May train and mentor lower-level loan closers.  

  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.  

 

Qualifications:  

  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Business, Finance or a related field and 8+ years of commercial, business or commercial real estate documentation/closing experience required, including 4+ yrs experience reading and interpreting loan and legal documentation or other directly related experience. A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.

  • Extensive knowledge of commercial, business or commercial real estate loan closing processes and procedures, lending compliance and regulations, loan systems and loan documentation.

  • Expert knowledge of loan principles and processes.

  • Ability to read and interpret very complex loan and legal documentation.

  • Extensive knowledge of construction due diligence and risk management.

  • Excellent analytical and research skills.

  • Must be accurate, detail oriented and have ability to multi-task.

  • Must have excellent problem resolution, audit, customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to train and mentor to less experience loan administrators/closers.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize sound judgment and work under limited supervision.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, RM's internal/external legal counsel and credit management.

  • Excellent computer skills including various word processing and spreadsheet software.

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $86,000 - $125,000 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience.
