Zions Investment Banking - Associate

Zions Capital Markets is seeking a well-qualified professional to join its Investment Banking Group as an Associate. The Investment Banking Group provides advisory and execution services to middle market and lower middle market companies and assists with important strategic and financial matters including raising capital, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and other corporate finance activities. The Investment Banking group supports a wide variety of clients across different industries, which are largely located within the Bank's footprint. Investment banking and securities underwriting activities are offered through Zions Direct, Inc., member FINRA / SIPC.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to join an entrepreneurial group building a fast-growing platform within a key focus area of the Bank. This position is located in the Zions Capital Markets office in Houston, TX.

Essential Functions:

·         Work with senior team members in the origination and execution of Investment Banking activities and transactions involving complex financial analyses, due diligence, and financial products

·         Prepare business valuations utilizing Microsoft Excel-based financial models, comparable company, and/or precedent transaction analysis

·         Create pitchbooks, Confidential Information Memorandums ("CIMs"), management presentations, and financial models

·         Conduct industry and company-specific due diligence and research as it pertains to transactions, prospecting, and internal presentations

·         Assist with internal company strategic initiatives including acquisition analysis and industry / market intelligence updates

·         Attend offsite meetings with prospects, customers, and potential investors, as well as internal relationship managers and coordinate follow-up activities (documenting feedback, tracking market data, etc.)

·         Mentor junior bankers and team members 

·         Ad hoc tasks and other duties as assigned

·         Support the internal approval and referral process 

·         Some travel required

·         Manage ad hoc tasks and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

·         Requires a Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a similarly related field. MBA and/or CFA is a plus

·         2+ years of experience in investment banking, transaction advisory services, or similar experience

·         Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

·         Ability to learn and apply complex concepts quickly 

·         High level of focus on work quality and attention to detail

·         Self-directed, highly motivated, and proactive

·         Ready to assume a high level of responsibility

·         Excellent analytical, quantitative, and communication (both verbal and written)

·         Ability to manage multiple projects independently under pressure and tight deadlines

·         Experience working with internal teams to prepare materials for review and approval by senior management

·         Unquestionable ethics, integrity, and judgment

·         Strong organizational skills with demonstrated track record of meeting deadlines and effective time management

·         Series 79 (or equivalent) and 63 will be required within 90 days of joining
