Summer 2024 Paid Internship

Zions Bancorp. has an opportunity for an intern to work with the National Municipal Finance group and potentially other related teams within the organization. 

If you have an interest in the fields of municipal finance and banking, accounting, or finance related to governmental entities, this is the position for you. We are interested in someone with an Entrepreneurial mindset that can think outside the box to be creative while understanding the rules and complying.

 

Below are some examples of the work the team handles that the intern could work on or be exposed to:

  • Execution of the purchase of municipal bonds, loans, and leases directly from governmental issuers.
  • Educate municipalities about other relevant products and services that the Bank offers.
  • Identify, pursue, and close financing opportunities by directly marketing to governmental entities, municipal advisors, bond attorneys, trustees, and governmental associations.
  • Read and analyze legal documents related to financing agreements.
  • Manage channels for new and existing client product growth and referral activity.
  • Cultivate a broad network of relationships with clients, referral sources and centers of influence inside and outside of the organization.

 Qualifications:  

 Currently working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, Accounting, or related degree - Master of Public Administration would be ideal.

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem resolution and organizational skills.
  • Interest in municipal debt issues and working with Federal Tax Law as it relates to municipal finance as well as statutory financing rules and regulations.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to quickly learn other finance-related software products as needed.
