Job Purpose

Under the overall direction of the Chief Banking Officer, the Regional President is responsible for the management of the region's loans, deposits, and administrative activities. The Regional President ensures maximum profits commensurate with the best interest of clients, shareholders, team members and the public. Responsibilities include planning, implementation, and management of regional objectives. Maintains organizational structure and plans for management successions. Represents the region among other businesses, community and industry associations, and government agencies. Exercises usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, feedback and coaching, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations.

The Regional President will oversee the Southwest Region and include communities in Clarinda, IA; Villisca, IA; Shenandoah, IA; Red Oak, IA; and Essex, IA. Candidate will sit in either Clarinda or Shenandoah locations.

Essential Functions

Core Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the region's activities to ensure maximum profits commensurate with the best interest of clients, shareholders, team members, and the public.
  • Establishes and implements performance goals and objectives for the region, subject to approval by CBO. Provides regional updates, which include performance goals and objectives to the CBO, Board of Directors and CEO.
  • Accountable for helping to establish and achieve income, expense and other key metrics for the region as directed by the CBO.
  • Serves as a member of the Bank Senior Leadership Team.
  • Actively involved in the region's lending functions, including credit administration and business development.
  • Actively involved in the region's deposit acquisition and liquidity management consistent with ALCO directives.
  • Actively involved in the Bank Strategic Planning initiatives.
  • Calls on potential clients, identifies loan and deposit banking needs, secures financial data for analysis and makes proposals for new business to achieve regional loan and deposit growth goals.
  • Leads and participates in civic and community activities to generate visibility and contact for the bank.
  • Represents the region among other businesses, community associations, and government agencies.
  • Develops and manages the regional advisory board, including but not limited to advisory board member selection, retirement, and replacement.
  • Manages incentive and regional objectives to ensure solid team efforts toward the attainment of regional and bank goals.
  • Adheres to and upholds regional compliance with bank policies.
  • Delegates' authority for coordination of major activities.
  • Approves regional budgets, appropriations, studies, and reports.
  • Oversees maintenance of facilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Leads achievement of regional performance standards, gives clear direction, delegates, and schedules work. Approves selection of team members.
  • Supports team members development by focusing on their innate talents and developing those into areas of strengths.
  • Listens to and advocates for team members to ensure their engagement needs are met.
  • Supports team member performance by establishing annual goals, setting clear expectations, and providing continual coaching.
  • Creates a culture of accountability that celebrates progress as often as outcomes.
  • Builds relationships that create trust and allow two-way dialogue.

General Responsibilities

  • Promotes and participates in the bank's special credit programs and other CRA programs.
  • May participate on bank level committees as assigned.
  • Has access to confidential information relating to clients and accounts, team member information including personal information, compensation, and performance, and information about the bank not readily available to the public. Protects the privacy and confidentiality of clients, other team members, and work.
  • Understands and complies with banking regulations by following bank policies and procedures. Stays abreast of relevant regulations, current industry matters, and any changes implemented internally to ensure compliance.


Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree plus at least ten years' experience in a financial institution (or at least fifteen years' experience in a financial institution without Bachelor's Degree).
  • Master's degree in business administration, finance, or related field a plus.

  • A strong understanding of bank operations including lending, retail, compliance, and operations.
  • Proven ability to lead by example as needed to develop, mentor and build team members and leaders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary in order to effectively interact with all levels within the organization when resolving problems and providing support.

Hours of Work & Travel

  • Full time, regular employment.
  • Days and hours of operation vary with each Bank Iowa location.
  • Some in-state travel required, 10-25%.
