Zions is currently looking for a motivated Windows/Linux System Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this exciting role, you will work collaboratively with application engineers, integration engineers, system administrators/engineers, database administrators, network engineers, security engineers along with project and business management to implement, maintain and enhance existing Windows Server infrastructure. This role provides the opportunity to interact with skilled individuals, gain additional skills and grow your career within the team and enterprise.
This Windows/Linux Systems Engineer will:
- Support operational stability through vulnerability remediation and monthly patching, administration for Windows and Linux operating systems on servers hosting internal/external enterprise applications and sites.
- Create and maintain information security throughout the Windows and Linux infrastructure via vulnerability remediation and application of patches and kernal updates using tools including VMware, TrueSight Automation Console, Powershell, Active directory, etc.
- Ensure technical documentation exists for vulnerability remediation for all systems and is kept up to date.
- Document system configurations to include passwords, access controls, version number, and revision numbers, patch levels, and inventory to include hostnames, TCP/IP addresses, number of processors, and number of cores, memory, and license keys.
- On-call rotation and after-hours work is required to support responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Some working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems, Active Directory, and Group Policy
- Understanding of networks, storage, and LAN/WAN systems and applications as well as their dependencies.
- Basic knowledge of Information Technology infrastructure components (firewall, database, operating system, network).
- Effectively communicate problems and solutions both verbally and in writing to internal customers and management.
- Problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions.
- Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems or other related field. A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications
Preferred
- Provision/configure required security and configuration settings onto servers using TrueSight Automation and Active Directory.
- Use native, add on tools, and third-party tools to troubleshoot malfunctions, optimizations. Tools include Resource Kits, Development Kits, and commercial tools.
Location:
This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office at the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
