We are currently seeking an experienced Network Operations Engineer to provide F5 Delivery for our Technology Reliability Engineering and Operations Team. This role will assist with designing highly available applications solutions that will be deployed across multiple data centers.
The Technology Reliability Engineering and Operations (TREO) organization is a key information technology group supporting our valued internal and external customers. TREO aligns up through the Chief Technology Officer and provides IT services such as hosting, security operations, application, voice, business intelligence infrastructure, collaboration services, and end user support. We focus on both operating and innovating our services to ensure continuous efficiency and modernization. The Network Operations Engineer is highly knowledgeable in F5 Application Delivery and requires a solid technical foundation and ability to work with subject matter experts in the Applications. Some activities will include, but not limited to, automation, completion of designs, mitigate risk, manage changes, implementation, knowledge transfer. Must have a proficient knowledge in F5 Technologies; Local Traffic Manager (LTM), Access Policy Manager (APM), Application Security Manager (ASM), Global Traffic Manager (GTM), and Adv. Firewall Manager (AFM). Must have a working knowledge and understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, ARP, ICMP, IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, 802.11, QoS, SSL/TLS, SSH, Ciphers)
Responsibilities
- Works with IT customers to understand business requirements and customer needs and provides technical expertise where required within Information Technology Projects.
- Analyzes and designs application delivery solutions to address business needs.
- Troubleshoots Network connectivity (route tracing and packet capture) and F5 Application Delivery Controller systems to increase quality and meet service level agreements.
- Identifies, investigates and proposes solutions to technical problems.
- Develops, tests, and modifies configurations to improve efficiency of distributed applications and increase availability.
- Provides technical support for issues surrounding F5 Technologies, SSL, VPN, and connectivity failures, etc.
- Monitors the applications to maintain consistent up time and availability.
- Develops and automates processes and procedures to support and improve systems.
- Analyzes current technology infrastructure and its ability to support strategic objectives for our customers.
- Prepares and maintains necessary documentation.
- Other duties as assigned, Including Network Operations production ticket and project work.
Qualifications
- 4-6 years' work experience in programming, systems analysis, networking and systems analysis and distributed applications or other directly related experience.
- Working knowledge of networking hardware, systems analysis and distributed applications.
- Solid working knowledge of load balancing technologies, encryption methodologies and security principles. Preferably in F5 Technologies; Local Traffic Manager (LTM), Access Policy Manager (APM), Application Security Manager (ASM), Global Traffic Manager (GTM), and Adv. Firewall Manager (AFM)
- Strong understanding of physical & virtual F5 architecture and device administration.
- Understanding of DNS infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of application deployment fundamentals and automation.
- Bachelor's in computer science, information systems or another related field, required.
- Requires strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Good technical communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with both management and staff employees.
- Must be able to meet deadlines through both independent and collaborative work efforts.
- Ability to set and maintain high quality work standards.
A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.
Location: This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office at the Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
