Job Summary:

Loan Assistant will manage client’s banking needs by assisting with loan transactions, loan documentation and responding to client inquiries with appropriate information utilizing problem solving and cross selling.  This position provides support to loan department staff and is able to perform duties independently with limited supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Insures accuracy of bank records by maintaining the knowledge of both state and federal bank regulations and Union State Bank policies, procedures and processes for the purpose of documentation, account information and other services with software programs to support client and bank needs.  Communicates with coworkers and loan officers to maintain consistency throughout the loan department. Communicates with lending staff in all offices to further enhance compliance, policies and teamwork on a timely basis.
  • Supports the lending operations by prioritizing daily workload and servicing tasks.  Provides technical support by preparing, monitoring and completing loan documentation for all types of loans for loan officers.  Handles interruptions with ease while still maintaining focus and accuracy.  Manages several assignments simultaneously, completes independently and meets deadlines accordingly.  Able to work extra time, when required to meet deadlines. 
  • Provides high quality client service by greeting clients, using client names, asking appropriate questions to determine needs of clients and responding to client inquiries and scheduling appointments.  Provides information by promptly answering the telephone and answering client inquiries.
  • Maintains accurate client account information by filing/imaging correspondence and other documentation, composing correspondence and/or loan documents, inputs new account information, maintains appropriate records and maintenance on data base with accuracy and speed.  Provides quality client service by following standard bank procedures by recording savings and checking deposits, loan payments and processes account withdrawals.
  • Provides team work and support in all areas by assisting other clients and employees.  Communicates effectively with coworkers and supervisor to divide workload, resolve issues and make procedure adjustments as needed.  Ability to work within a “team environment” in a cooperative manner.  Communicates with coworkers the information required for maintaining consistency throughout the area.  Remains flexible for unexpected changes in workload and timing. 
  • Provides additional financial services to clients by responding to client questions with referrals to USB Investment Center, personal bankers and other banking departments.
  • Works as part time teller as needed including Saturday morning rotation.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Ability to provide clients with a high level of individualized service and strategies consistent with their individual and business goals and needs.
  • Sales and service aptitude utilizing a consultative sales approach.
  • Attention to details, accuracy, and organizational skills are critical.
  • Comprehensive understanding of teller line, new accounts, and branch operations.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent work ethic and ability to multitask.
  • Willingness and desire to be involved in community organizations within the local market.
  • Interest in community banking.
  • Pass a personal background and credit check.
