Job Description:

At Regions, the Digital Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Strategist manages search engine optimization strategies that drive brand awareness and customer conversion with measurable results.  Understands and support initiatives that will contribute to the goals and success of our campaigns. As search engine algorithms become more complex, helping the user experience (UX) team manage multiple website entry points will lead to far a better search-to-landing-page-to-conversion experience. Focuses on the successful analysis and evaluation of search optimization to help the business groups improve sales and adoption. Makes the already solid content great by making it more actionable and visible.

As part of our larger User Experience UX team, through this person's efforts, Regions is able to achieve higher Google search engine rankings, make our content more discoverable to customers and prospects and improve our conversion rates while fighting off increased competition. While SEO targets search engines, the larger UX team focuses on the customers and prospects that use our digital platforms (website, mobile app, account opening, online banking). Both share a common goal of giving our users the best experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Works on organic growth initiatives with a cross-functional team to execute SEO best practices and strategies
  • Performs keyword research, continuous site auditing and recommend on-page optimization based on business objectives for both existing content and new opportunities
  • Develops comprehensive keyword research documentation and strategic keyword evaluations
  • Conducts backlink analysis of our site and our competitors to find new link opportunities and monitor link quality
  • Works with the UX team to create easy navigation and site structure that impacts Google search results
  • Monitors and analyzes site performance using a range of SEO and web analytics tools
  • Complements social and content teams by providing target terms, anchor text and landing pages for off-domain content to drive Page Authority to key pages
  • Identifies and manages crawl errors, sitemaps, site speed issues and any other technical issues that can affect ranking
  • Reports regularly on SEO key performance indicators, including Ranking, Traffic, click-through rate (CTR), conversion and cost per action
  • Communicates with digital banking stakeholders about SEO strategies, tactics, deliverables and performance
  • Stays up-to-date on current SEO industry trends and technologies
  • Uses prescribed guidelines or policies to analyze and resolve problems
  • Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a Quantitative, Marketing, Communications, or related discipline and five (5) years experience with on-site technical SEO, content strategy development and site audits
  • Or High School Diploma and nine (9) years experience with on-site technical SEO, content strategy development and site audits
  • Extensive experience with software for data, tracking and analytics, including BrightEdge, Moz, Google Search Console, ScreamingFrog and other comparable tools sets
  • Local search optimization experience
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices and an aptitude for continued education and growth in the search space
  • Knowledge of various technologies and web design principles and the effect on SEO
  • Experience implementing content-focused and technical SEO tactics independently or by working with developers
  • Deep understanding of keyword difficulty and relevance, as well as link popularity and its SEO relevance
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of hyper text markup language

Preferences

  • Comfort collaborating with both developers and marketers to accomplish SEO objectives, including the ability to create product specifications
  • Influencing our UX by tracking the latest Google trends like site speed issues, user signals and varied site entry points
  • Strong analytical skill set, capable of analyzing and reacting to performance data
  • Be a thought leader who can share trends and behaviors on digital media to optimize existing platforms as well as properties that are not currently used or that are underutilized
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to develop documents and presentations
  • Positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
  • Be able to build and scale, with a focus on execution

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the national range and level of the position.
