By delegation of the Board of Directors, the Chief Regulatory Risk Officer has the authority and responsibility for the day-to-day execution and oversight of the Bank’s Compliance Management System and Enterprise Risk Management Program.   Specific responsibilities include:

  • Thorough understanding of applicable banking and consumer laws and regulations. Serve as a compliance expert and advisor to department managers.
  • Management and administration of the Bank’s Compliance Management Program and team, including the review and management of compliance policies and procedures, performance of risk assessments, creation of monitoring/testing schedules, testing the effectiveness compliance related controls, managing regulatory change projects, and conducting employee training.
  • Assisting department managers with a wide variety of regulatory compliance operational matters.
  • Serving as a regulatory liaison for compliance regulatory exams and manage other compliance related internal audits.
  • Acting as the bank’s primary contact for regulatory compliance research, analysis, and interpretation involving a high degree of accuracy in interpreting and communicating regulatory compliance issues with staff, senior management, including Audit Committee and Enterprise Risk Committee.
  • Collaborating with other departments to direct compliance concerns to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.
  • Consulting with attorneys as needed to resolve respective legal compliance issues.
  • Responding to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures.
  • Overseeing the Risk Improvement Activity system for uniform handling of regulatory or audit findings issued internally or by external sources such as regulators or auditors.
  • Reviewing contracts, documents, advertisements, and forms used throughout the bank to ensure they meet regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing risk related reporting for the Board and Executive Management, including but not limited to, top risk reports, status updates, and key risk indicator reporting.
  • Preparing accurate and complete HMDA and CRA data filings on an annual basis and within regulatory timelines.
  • Overseeing and administering the collection and verification of risk related key indicators.
  • Assisting in investigation and resolution of consumer complaints.
  • Overseeing and administering the Bank’s Third-Party Risk Management Program.
  • Overseeing and administering the Bank’s Model Risk Management Program.
  • Overseeing and administering the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management Program.
  • Creating the Bank’s Environmental, Social, and Governance report for institutional investor use.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 10 years banking experience with at least 3 years in a risk related field.
  • Auditing experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Multi-tasker

WORK CONDITIONS

  • This position must be able to sit for long periods of time as the position involves the majority of time spent at a computer.
  • This position requires moderate travel.
