The Credit Analyst performs independent analysis for consumer, commercial, construction and agricultural loan requests for moderate to complex borrowers for underwriting and review purposes by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze financial statements and tax returns of varying levels of quality and complexity to develop an initial assessment by identifying strengths and weaknesses pertaining to borrower’s historical performance.
  • Review and complete independent credit analyses of consumer, commercial, construction and agriculture loan requests of varying sizes, complexity, structure and industry.
  • Ability to recognize trends and changes in trends throughout the years analyzed. Ability to work with the lender to describe why a change in trends occurred. Review borrowing base statements with lender.
  •  Collaboratively work with lenders to obtain complete underwriting packages, set turnaround expectations, discuss alternative structures and overall credit assessments.
  • Prepare and review in depth written analyses, including but not limited to financial statement spreads, loan presentations and annual reviews for relationships of all sizes and levels of complexity, including those with greatest exposure.
  • Research industry specific data from outside sources, including information from borrower, industry publications, references from other financial institutions, credit agencies and the internet. 
  • Provide and review written analyses that include strengths and weaknesses of credit applicants for approval, denial or alternative structure to lenders.
  • Assist in preparing and finalizing loan committee packets for distribution.
  • Attend various committee meetings including loan committee to answer questions pertaining to credit analyses.
  • Verify compliance with laws, regulations and Bank policies including enforcement of Bank loan policies and credit culture. Complete semi-annual compliance training to become familiarized with any changes and adhere to applicable Federal and State banking laws and regulations.
  • Participate in customer meetings as requested by Lenders.
  • Assist in report generation to the Board of Directors and Regulatory Agencies.
  • Review and analyze market evaluations for completeness and reliability.
  • Assist Chief Credit Officer in preparation of management reports to include the ALLL, Concentration CRE, OREO and Problem Loan reports.

NONESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical expertise to other loan department staff.
  • Participate in various special projects as assigned.
  •  Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, preferably in accounting and/or finance; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience strongly preferred.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements, tax returns an governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software.
