Position Overview
As our new Commercial Banking Officer, you will originate and service both commercial & industrial loans and commercial real estate loans.
Essential Duties
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence and autonomy, participate in developing and implementing the commercial lending activity of the Bank in the solicitation and administration of commercial loans (C&I and CRE), ensure compliance with Bank’s lending policy and established goals and objectives. Cross-sell UniBank products and services.
- Negotiate loan proposals with existing and prospective customers with limited supervision.
- Initiate and carry out business development program to promote Bank’s commercial lending capabilities.
- Analyze proposed loans for credit worthiness, risk, and prudent structuring through detailed analysis of all required financial information, integrating relevant external factors such as management, market, industry, and economic climate into the decision -making process.
- Approve loans and address structuring issues within limits of lending authorities established within the Bank’s loan policy.
- Prepare and review pre and post-closing commercial loan documentation to ensure timely and accurate receipt of credit and all other required documentation.
- Monitor performance of assigned commercial loan portfolio. Maintain and participate in ongoing program of credit administration including customer visitations, covenant reviews, dictation, and file maintenance to ensure adherence to Bank’s loan policies and procedures supporting a sound credit administration function.
- In conjunction with the Senior Lender, participate in planning and executing loan workout strategies with problem credits including working with attorneys and workout personnel.
- Keep abreast of ongoing developments in the fields of finance, banking in general, and commercial lending in particular.
- Represent the Bank within the community by participating in various business, civic and service organizations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred.
- Minimum five to seven years C&I and/or commercial real estate lending experience required.
- Must have proficient computer skills, and excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and math skills.
- Must be able to work independently, make decisions, handle multiple projects simultaneously and use discretion in setting priorities.
- Valid drivers’ license along with the ability and willingness to travel to various sites required.
- Demonstrated ability to handle challenging situations with poise and tact.
- Strong and effective customer service skills, with professional and courteous style of communication.
