What you'll do:

This position is highly collaborative and will interact with stakeholders across the organization, such as business users and development teams, to design the future data tools of the Bank. Key responsibilities include designing standards, communicating guidelines to stakeholders, and assisting with various aspects of technology implementation, to shape and maintain the usage of data across the Bank. Prior experience with data design, Business Intelligence tools, and the banking industry will contribute to this role's success.

How you'll make an impact:
  • Implementing guidelines and frameworks for the usage of data across the Bank,
  • Working closely with business users and IT to modernize the Bank's data infrastructure, and
  • Promoting standardization of data across the bank to drive efficiencies


What you can expect:

SUPPORT DATA LAKEHOUSE ENGINEERING AND BUSINESS
  • Support the Bank in transitioning to a modern Data Lakehouse platform and transforming information into insights for a better understanding of members, products, markets, etc. to make data driven decisions.
  • Organize and coordinate standards and requirements for data retrieval and validation.
  • Coordinate with business teams to define and document common relationships across data sources and standardize calculations at an enterprise level to create efficiencies and improve data quality.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define key metrics and calculations across the organization to drive more insightful dashboards creation and make data driven decisions.
  • Support business users in development of reports and processes using the Bank's business intelligence tools.
  • Liase between data owners and data engineering to facilitate dataset implementation, testing, and validation of business requirements.
  • Establish performance metrics and thresholds for data and reporting latency and perform testing to document results.


IMPLEMENT & MAINTAIN GUIDELINES/FRAMEWORK
  • Implement FHLBank Chicago guidelines, recommendations, and requirements for using business intelligence tools.
  • Maintain and communicate software recommendations and requirements to business users.
  • Support the development and organization of guidelines to be used as requirements for future data sets across the organization.
  • Create templates and required documentation for dataset implementation.
  • Implement datasets standards of production for approval, ownership and maintenance, etc.
  • Facilitate training on business intelligence technology around the enterprise.


CHANGE MANAGEMENT
  • Communicate requirements to stakeholders and provide support as needed.
  • Support the Bank's change management efforts to transition from our current structured enterprise data warehouse to Data Lakehouse technology.
  • Collaborate with critical report and process owners to shift processes that use legacy tools to modern solutions.
  • Communicate branding strategy requirements and guidelines for Bank dashboards and support business user adoption of the Bank's style guide.


CATALOG/ORGANIZATION
  • Assess and maintain enterprise report inventory and restructure to reduce redundancy.
  • Define and maintain datasets in the Bank's governance catalog to support correct usage across the enterprise.
  • Create a catalog of key enterprise dashboards that drives business decisions with key stakeholders.


What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in finance, business, economics, mathematics, computer science, or the equivalent work experience, is strongly preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in intensive data analytics role developing business intelligence reporting is required.
  • The individual will have extensive experience organizing, consuming, and analyzing large and complex data and must be proficient with query languages.
  • Prior experience in data architecture is preferred.
  • Proficiency in various business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, and Databricks, and the ability to understand SQL programing language is strongly preferred.
  • A high degree of professionalism with outstanding communication (written, verbal, and listening) skills.
  • Ability to self-start and self-motivate, a willingness to take an active role and drive results by collaborating with peers, leaders, clients, and teams.
  • Desire for continuous learning and inclination to understand big picture elements
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and concentrate on details in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong data visualization and analytical skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.
