Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Proactively seeks new business by establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals, businesses and organizations in Muscatine and the surrounding communities.   
  • Represents the bank in the community through various memberships and involvement in community activities to increase the banks visibility and enhance business opportunities. 
  • Meets with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer questions about the process.
  • Interviews all loan applicants and informs prospective loan clients of the financial institution’s underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations.
  • Screens loan requests based on financial institution policies and types of loans offered.
  • Completes each loan application and all pre-processing functions in a timely manner to ensure documentation deadlines are met.
  • Negotiates credit terms, such as costs, loan repayment methods and collateral specifications. Communicates approvals or denials to the borrower/client. 
  • Monitors and actively participates in the collection of delinquent accounts.
  • Reviews CAPS for accuracy prior to submission to loan committee and the Board of Directors.
  • Reviews loan portfolio risk ratings for accuracy and recommends changes as necessary.
  • Manages policy and technical exceptions.
  • Promotes and participates in the financial institution’s special credit programs and other CRA programs.
  • Builds knowledge and understanding of the credit function of the bank by participating in internal and external training opportunities.
  • Meets with and/or entertains current and prospective customers.
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned by senior management.

Qualification Requirements

  • Three to five years commercial lending or related business experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Outstanding internal and external customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to consider relative costs and benefits of potential actions; critically analyze related variables; logically apply reasoning when selecting goals and making plans.
  • Must reside within the Muscatine or surrounding communities.  This is an on-site position.
