Summary
The Community Development Officer will be responsible for implementation of effective community and engagement programs, including oversight of activities and details, and measuring overall success. The Officer will also serve as a liaison to the CRA Officer and First Vice President of Residential Mortgage.
Essential Functions:
- Generate residential mortgage leads in communities with underserved populations, resulting in increased mortgage volume in these communities
- In concert with nonprofit officers, lead outreach efforts in greater Indianapolis with an emphasis on underserved areas and populations to source CRA eligible community service and banking opportunities
- Partner with businesses/corporations, community groups, and nonprofit organizations to provide financial education and empowerment programs. Provide support in Fair Lending and corporate social responsibility initiatives by assisting with research, reporting, and implementation of community development programs
- Recruit and oversee financial literacy educational opportunities and assign volunteers
- Assist with data management and reporting by gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Create and update internal and external presentations to encourage consistent messaging and outcomes.
- Stay informed on emerging trends in corporate social responsibility and recommend innovative ways to enhance our programs
- Serve in community leadership roles including serving on boards and committees that qualify for CRA consideration and attend highly visible community development events to promote brand awareness
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent combination of education
- Working knowledge of business development strategies, with at least five years of business development and calling experience preferred
- Knowledge of banking services, laws and regulations preferred
- Proven track record of delivering superior customer service
- Knowledge of banking laws and regulations
- Professional and personal involvement in community and civic activities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with well-honed presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, exhibiting a high degree of professionalism
- Proven ability to solve problems, organize and prioritize tasks, interpret data, and work with minimal supervision
- Proven team orientation and collaborative work style
- Computer proficiency, with a full understanding of Microsoft Office products and similar applications
