Position Overview
The Senior IT Specialist supports the team in maintaining optimum performance, security and control of computer hardware, software, and printers. They will provide support for the UniBank user community and act as an escalation point for helpdesk tickets as well as perform operational support of IT systems. This may include system security updates, vulnerability mitigation, server upgrades, Virtual Desktop engineering, and mobile device OS security. They will ensure procedures are performed appropriately, documented thoroughly, and that no crucial data is damaged. They may act as back-up to other team members as needed.

Primary Accountabilities

  • IT Strategy
    • Maintain up-to-date documentation of Bank’s systems, using appropriate diagramming and configuration tools.
    • Assist with maintenance, upgrades and roadmap strategies of IT systems and solutions.
    • Participate in IT Working groups and on other special project teams as assigned, to provide system support advice and recommendations.
    • Provide regular operations reports to IT management. 
  • IT Operations 
    • Administrating Microsoft servers supporting user account management, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, security, Group Policy, and scripts. 
    • Maintaining and monitoring bank systems, virtual servers, networking components, and telecommunication equipment. 
    • Perform technical work as assigned which may include tuning of systems, developing and generating reports and scoping/coordinating technical solutions for business problems; includes needs analysis, data gathering and report generation.
    • Escalation to Manager and/or vendors to resolve issues as appropriate.
    • Recommend and order equipment for end users in compliance with department and Bank policy.
    • Recommend changes or additions to systems and solutions as appropriate to ensure cost efficient, reliable, and timely services.
    • Perform application administration duties, account set-ups, and various system duties as directed.
    • Work diligently to document, communicate, and submit progress reports on assigned tasks in department task management databases.
    • Participate in implementations or rollouts of various software.
    • Project team member and/or project leader on infrastructure projects or system upgrades
  • IT Support
  • Supporting day-to-day operations and resolving any problems relating to desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, servers, networking, business applications, hardware and software within a high demand and fast paced environment.
  • As part of the IT team, the Senior IT Specialist will provide Tier 2 support for all computer-related helpdesk issues in the Bank. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Analysis and resolution of user program issues – such as business applications, Microsoft Office, and internet-based programs.
    • Analysis and resolution of local networking issues – such as connectivity, workstation protocol configuration and related issues.
    • Regular and emergency maintenance and/or replacement of software and hardware on user workstations as required.
    • Deploy and support mobile devices, including but not limited to iPhones, iPads, and related MDM software.
    • Provide support for Mitel VOIP phone system in the Main Office and Branch locations.
  • Travel to and between Branches may be required at times.
  • Provide user training as requested and required.
  • Support other IT teammates in day-to-day operations of internal and customer facing services as requested.
  • Other related duties and tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Work Experience

  • Two-year Bachelor’s degree required, Four-year Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years in a User Services role supporting every aspect of the desktop computing environment including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, desktop applications, printers, and hardware.
  • 4+ years’ proven installation, support, and administration of Microsoft Servers including operating systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and scripting.
  • 2+ years’ experience directly supporting Microsoft Exchange 2013+ and/or Microsoft Exchange Online or equivalent.
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal, analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly skilled in communicating with non-technical users in a professional manner and can work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and communication skills needed.
  • Ability and willingness to be on call as needed per the Department rotation schedule for after hours and weekend coverage.
  • May need to lift/move up to 25lbs on a periodic basis.

 Additional desired experience

    • VMware VSphere supporting and troubleshooting guest VMs
    • SMB firewalls from SonicWALL and Fortinet
    • Basic script writing, SQL, VB, etc.
    • Network Switch Configuration
    • Red Hat or Ubuntu Linux
    • Experience working in a Bank IT environment.
    • Microsoft certifications
    • VMware Horizon
    • Office 365 Implementation
