West Virginia Bankers Title (WVBT), managed by Virginia Bankers Association (VBA), has an exciting opportunity for a business development professional with real estate, banking, sales and marketing experience. Title Insurance experience is a plus. In this position, you will be responsible for profitability by increasing the agency’s market share in West Virginia (and other markets as assigned). The primary focus of this position is to implement a business development plan as directed by the VBA/WVBT, to accomplish plan goals and assist the Agency Operations Manager as needed. A high energy level, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel within the assigned territory are essential for success in the Business Development Officer role. Position Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to and implement the business development plan established by WVBT.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with and a statewide referral network from owner lenders, non-owner lenders, attorneys, realtors, builders, and other potential business sources.
  • Continually seek ways to improve penetration of internal referrals from owners and increase percentage of non-owner business.
  • Communicate/report on a regular basis with the VBA Director and Agency Operations Manager regarding marketing achievements, projects, and strategies.
  • Follow up on leads and suggestions provided by the Agency Ops Manager, Agency Board and VBA Director.
  • Join and participate in professional organizations associated with the industry.
  • Work with the WVBT team to achieve income and profit goals set by the agency.
  • Work with Investors Title Insurance Company (ITIC) marketing personnel and agency operations manager to ensure marketing materials are up to date.
  • Share information about marketing efforts and new customers with production staff for improved customer support.
  • Communicate frequently and collaborate with Agency Operations Manager to share market progress and understand operational implications with a goal of maintaining high customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a professional, friendly, and courteous manner when dealing with clients.
  • Maintain a superior level of customer service.
  • Attend Board and Executive Committee Meetings.
  • Assists with the Annual Budget preparation.
  • Assist with A/R collections.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a four-year college degree or equivalent training and experience.
  • Prior real estate experience required.
  • Sales and marketing experience (3+ years) with a special focus on relationship building required.
  • Experience as a title insurance sales rep (2+ years) or mortgage loan originator, bank loan officer or legal support staff (5+ years) preferred.
