Overview

First National Bank of America is seeking an individual who enjoys extracting and presenting meaningful data to management and co-workers to assist in the daily management of their areas. As a Data Engineer, you will work closely with all departments within the bank from the mailroom to the board room to provide meaningful insight into the Bank's portfolio and processes through understanding data needs, metadata management, data modeling, and constructing data pipelines for automating and accelerating data preparation, wrangling, and presentation.

Responsibilities

Daily work would include:

  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines that ingest and process large amounts of data from multiple sources
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and develop solutions that meet those needs
  • Design and implement data models, schemas, and structures that optimize data retrieval and analysis
  • Develop and maintain data warehousing and ETL processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Participate in work stream planning process including inception, technical design, development, testing and delivery of BI solutions
  • Contribute to agile team alignment and continuous improvement efforts
  • Participate in team ceremonies sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
  • Identify and document metadata issues across all assigned data domains
  • Understanding of the metadata captured to manage data and participate in the creation and maintenance of metadata in the metadata tool
  • Validate that a project's requirements have been thoroughly tested to prevent any negative impact to existing programs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure data security and compliance with privacy regulations

Qualifications

A preferred candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field or combination of education and experience
  • A passion for technology and initiative in using creative approaches to analyze business data
  • Proficiency in SQL and data modeling
  • Experience with data integration tools and processes, such as SSIS or Data Factory
  • Experience with DW/BI tools such as SQL Server, SSRS, Power BI Desktop/Services, PowerQuery, and DAX
  • Experience with cloud-based data storage and computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure
  • Experience with formal SDLC controls and processes
  • Experience with ITIL, Dev/DataOps, and CI/CD
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
