Job Description:

At Regions, the Business Unit Data Governance Function Manager leverages knowledge and experience in ensuring that the availability, usability, security, and integrity of data within a Line of Business is properly managed. This position ensures that data is used appropriately and serves as a primary point of contact within the Line of Business for specific data management and governance related issues.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements a scalable approach for evaluating the reliability of data being used
  • Leverages tools, and partners with the centralized Data Management and Governance team to ensure best practices in implementing plans
  • Partners with leaders to determine data needs and ensure compliance
  • Partners closely with the Data and Analytics Office (DAO) on data standards and processes
  • Advises leadership on processes, practices and technologies that play a critical role in improving data optimization
  • Ensures that models and analytical capabilities effectively address business requirements
  • Manages and maintains existing inventory and catalog of data assets available to the line of business
  • Promotes the use of automation and emerging technologies in data governance architectures and plans
  • Works on complex, cross functional data governance solutions; partners with peer groups carrying out similar functions
  • Relies on extensive experience in solving issues independently, maintaining all applicable documentation
  • Supports applications and platforms to enable effective sharing of data from authoritative data sources
  • Translates business rules into data quality rules and produces data controls (in conjunction with the Data Custodians)
  • Ensures data availability for regulatory reporting or requests
  • May lead a team responsible for designing and implementing business unit data solutions and oversight
  • May assist with training

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Information Systems, or related field
  • Eight (8) years of Banking, Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, or related experience

Preferences

  • Master's degree in Business, Science, or related field

  • Strong knowledge of various data quality issues and ETL processes
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and organizational skills

This position is responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, enhancement, and monitoring of the Regions Data Governance Model within the Risk Management department. This functional manager will report to the Head of Risk Data Management & Governance and will work closely with data stewards and other subject matter experts across the Risk organization to help foster the accuracy, reliability and quality of data consumed and reported by the department, which includes but is not limited to internal management reporting, external regulatory reporting, risk analytics, stress testing and other quantitative analysis. In addition to core data governance responsibilities, this functional manager will assist with enhancement and modernization efforts of the departments primary data architecture and reporting processes. Additional activities of this role include:

  • Review and analyze data quality issues, recommend solutions, assist with implementation, and report and escalate as needed

  • Prioritize data and reporting processes within Risk Management to focus implementation of data quality standards on the most critical items

  • Partner with Risk associates to improve current data aggregation, consumption, and reporting processes

  • Work closely with the Risk Reporting team to ensure effective execution of an accurate and reliable FR Y-14 submission to the Federal Reserve Board

  • Collaborate with other teams across the bank to enhance existing risk reporting and regulatory reporting processes

  • Learn and understand multiple systems, databases, and processes as needed

  • Demonstrated ability to influence change on a broad scale

  • Function as a leader with a team-oriented mindset

  • Work with limited guidance, under pressure and meet deadlines

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the national range and level of the position.

$112,446.50 USD

Median:

$163,250.00 USD

Incentive Pay Plans:

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary incentive plan. Employees are eligible to receive a discretionary award based on individual, business, and/or company performance.Opportunity to participate in the Long Term Incentive Plan.
