Job Description:

At Regions, the Audit Project Manager leads internal audit activities for various areas of the bank in accordance with the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develops initial audit program to meet the audit engagement objectives

  • Plans the nature, timing, and extent of engagement procedures

  • Develops project timeline to ensure alignment with internal audit annual plan

  • Reviews work performed by audit team for more complex audits to ensure documentation is in accordance with the internal audit methodology

  • Coaches internal audit staff throughout the audit engagement to ensure the audit objectives are met

  • Ensures that all audit issues are developed accurately and objectively and reflect the audit work performed

  • Discusses audit findings and the impacts professionally and confidently with various levels of the organization as directed by audit management

  • Follows up with management to ensure that management actions have been effectively implemented to remediate audit issues

  • Identifies process improvements for the business based on understanding and analysis of process flows/operations

  • Manages the team conducting audit engagements to ensure that objectives are met consistent within budgets and deadlines

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.


  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Five (5) years experience in internal audit, external audit, banking, or risk management/compliance


  • Professional certification in CPA, CIA, CISA, CFSA, CRCM, CFE, CRP, CAMS, CFIRS, CISSP, or CBA

  • Demonstrates efficiency and effectiveness of managing their own time

  • Identifies the level, timing, and type of communications for the intended audience

  • Listens actively and ask questions as required to validate understanding

  • Organizes ideas logically to achieve the objectives of the written communication

  • Demonstrates competence and confidence in verbal communications

  • As an IT Audit Project Manager you will assist the organization by protecting its internal controls and data within its technology system. You will examine the organization's IT system to ensure sufficient controls are kept and security of data stored or transported. You will be challenged to identify opportunities to innovate the audit approach to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Networking, Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred
