Additional Duties:

  • The Director of Business Development will foster superior relationship-building skills and a stellar track record of developing new partnerships/deals with multiple stakeholders through:

-The support of FirsTech's near and long term growth strategy through identification, assessment and execution of potential partnerships, joint ventures and acquisitions

-Creatively exploring and evaluating new opportunities throughout the Busey footprint, and in adjacent markets, and propose collaborations to cultivate business that also aligns with FBC's future appetite for growth.

-Managing the process from initial touchpoint through deal making and onboarding, to meet or exceed, expected partnership goals

-Building, maintaining and expanding on long-term relationships with strategic partner executives and key decision makers

  • Build, manage and maintain detailed multi-year financial models to support key strategic decisions for business
  • Deliver well-analyzed financial forecasts to support the business's strategic direction and budget, including a long term forecast for FirsTech
  • Develop and monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance, including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and operating metrics
  • Influence and execute on collaborative sales strategy to drive new customer acquisition and increase revenue
  • Provide feedback to the product and engineering teams on customer needs and requirements


Knowledge of:

  • Customer Service - Adheres to The Busey Promise service standards set through Service Excellence in order to anticipate and exceed the needs of our customers, both internal and external.
  • Change Management - Champions and creates followership for change, and effectively navigates through uncertainty and difficult transitions.

Ability to:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior management teams, manage and execute projects with a strong bias for action; ability to effectively prioritize projects and meet aggressive, recurring deadlines
  • Developing and presenting reporting that tracks against key KPIs and evaluate performance to recommend improvements
  • The ability to look ahead and balance strategic projects and initiatives with tactical day-to-day reporting and management cadence
  • Structuring and solving complex business problems while collaborating with cross functional teams to develop compelling solutions


  • Minimum 8+ years' experience in sales, business development, corporate development or M&A.
  • Meaningful focus in FinTech or financial services ecosystems, with working knowledge of the landscape and relationships with key players, to drive immediate impact.
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, Finance or Economics (MBA is a plus).
  • Experience with the M&A process (including deal structuring, due diligence, execution & integration) a plus.
  • Willingness to travel on an as needed basis.
