Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures is responsible for developing new and existing commercial loan and deposit relationships in order to attain established goals. Also responsible for marketing and credit underwriting as well as regulatory compliance and credit administration. Interviews commercial loan applicants, explains the Bank’s commercial loan program and its requirements. Obtains pertinent financial and loan information and conducts a preliminary analysis to determine if the applicant(s) meets established criteria. Responds to questions and/or provides information upon request from customers (internal and external). Processes requests/transactions, as appropriate. Assist customers and potential customers in understanding and utilizing Bank products and services.
Develops a profitable mixed commercial lending portfolio (new and existing) along with cross selling other Bank products.
Activities include, but are not limited to: counseling potential customers on available commercial products and taking customer applications. Completes verification of income, employment, assets, down payments, debts, and property values. Ensures that all applications are complete, including preparation and issuance of required disclosures, etc.
Processes applications including but not limited to: verification of income, employment, assets, down payments, debts, and property values. Responsible for ensuring that all applications are complete, including preparation and issuance of required disclosures, etc. Send pre-loan documents to customers in order to begin processing of the loan application.
Structures, analyzes and underwrites loans according to credit policy. Exercises sound judgment balancing loan growth and credit quality.
Makes recommendations for approving or declining the loan within given authority and/or submits loan to Assistant Lending Manager for approval.
Coordinates and prepares pre-closing, and closing documentation working with Title companies and/or attorneys. Performs all system file maintenance and disburses funds. Works with the Loan Processors to set up servicing files. Orders Title, Appraisal (where applicable) or property valuation and flood search information. Ensures appropriate payments are settled between the customer, Bank, Title Company and Appraiser.
Maintains loan documentation in customers file, ensuring all policies and procedures of the Bank are followed. Update loan records as required. Audits files to insure that all required documents are present and accounted for and are in compliance. Assists with filing and portfolio review. Fund the loan in the system.
Perform other Commercial Lending, Processing and Administrative duties as assigned by management.
Complete required annual Bank Secrecy Act training which includes emphasis on identifying suspicious activity, performing Customer Due Diligence, adhering to the Customer Identification Program (CIP), and performing an Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) check when directed by supervisor.

College degree or equivalent with 10 or more years of experience in the field of commercial lending. At least 5 years of experience with sales and credit underwriting. Strong Knowledge of commercial lending criteria, compliance, and federal/state regulations. Demonstrated knowledge of commercial lending guidelines and the entire commercial loan process, from origination through post-closing. Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously. Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills. Must possess strong service orientation and willingness to sell products and services. PC proficient, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), the Internet and mortgage software. Ability to function in a financial institution branch environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, fax, copier, telephone, etc. Some travel required. Ability to lift minimum 25 lbs.
